Indonesia: Japan: Prof. Fusao Okamoto started studying Noh at the age of ten, eventually studying under Kanze Motoaki and Kanze Yashuhide, the leaders of the Kanze-ryu school of Noh. He was officially recognized as an “important intangible cultural treasure keeper in Japan” in 2001. Korea: Sun Ock Lee has been honored internationally for her extraordinary dances, performances, based on Zen philosophy and Zen Dance technique. Dr. Lee received a D.A. from NYU and is the author of "Zen Dance: Meditation in Movement", “ZenDance Technique and Therapy" and “Healing Zendance”. She won the Choreographer's Award by the National Endowment for the Arts. ZENDANCE:MEDITATION IN MOVEMENT THERAPY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
This certificate Course is a two-year program leads to a Master of Applied Meditation Studies: Zendance Therapy Certificate ( MA- ZDTC), four times in each four week course of study for nurses, movement therapists, dancers, aerobic teachers and other related physical educators and meditation practitioners. This course will certify for the teaching of the Zendance-Sunmu technique as a therapy in conjunction with medical practitioners recommendations. The program is divided into various disciplines students will choose from over the period of two-years, in each four weeks course. It is a new method which enables mind and body healing through movement in dance meditation. This course will offer both practical workshops and theoretical studies. It is an intensive course that will enable the Zendance therapists to work with the general population for rehabilitation and as a form of Healing Art for health promotion and alternative medicine.
The Purpose of ZENDANCE as Applied MeditationMeditation in movement is to enhance one’s everyday life with the richness of the equilibrium of a healthy mind and body within our chaotic modern society. This certificate course is designed to reduce the stress bound Ki-energy, and allow proper flow and circulation throughout the entire body. The basis of the Zendance technique consists of both movement meditation and Tanjun- lower abdominal breathing exercises and Yimoko-Kongan( Zen Quest) practice. The movement meditation consists of the yin and yang theory and incorporates Mudras-hand gestures, emotional control and improvisation.
This course is a new approach developed based on the Zen philosophy, Asian traditional and modern dance concept collaboratively by Dr. Sun Ock Lee and The Graduate School of Complementary Alternative Medicine- Pochon CHA University, and Zendance-SunMu Center in Seoul.
The Programs of Applied Meditation Studies: ZENDANCE Therapy Certificate Course(2-3 should be chosen as focus of each course with basic Zendance technique ) as follows:

This course and selections will be taught by professor Dr. Sun Ock Lee who created ZENDANCE and founder of ZENDANCE Company (since 1974 in NYC). For the past 30 years, she has been teaching and performing throughout Europe, USA and Asia. She received her doctorate at New York University( 1984). Zendance technique and therapy is receiving more international recognition at alternative medicine centers, holistic centers and new age institutes.
